Overview

Hitori starts as a full grid of numbers. You black out duplicates until no number repeats in any row or column among unshaded cells — but you must never isolate a white cell and no two shaded cells may touch orthogonally.

The daily puzzle is checked for a single valid solution so you always have a fair solve path. It is a quiet, meditative mode that pairs well with morning coffee.

How to play

  • Tap cells to toggle black/white states according to the game rules.
  • Unshaded numbers must be unique per row and column.
  • All unshaded cells must remain orthogonally connected.

Strategy tips

  • If three identical numbers sit in a row, the middle is often safe to shade.
  • Watch corners — they constrain adjacency aggressively.
  • Periodically zoom out to ensure the white blob is contiguous.
